The other week, I tuned into my local AM radio station to listen to the Steve Czaban Show. The Steve Czaban Show was my favorite sports talk show, hands down. He was hilarious and mixed a lot of pop culture in with his sports talk.
Notice how every sentence above is in the past tense? That's because the geniuses at Fox Sports Radio decided to replace his show with Steven A. Smith. Don't get me wrong, Smith is probably a nice guy and all, but it's too early in the morning to listen to someone scream at me. So I'll pass on that.
Desperate, I started listening to Mike & Mike on the local ESPN Radio station. A junkie's got to get his fix, even if it's a far inferior product. The other day, I tuned in and found someone speaking in Spanish.
NOOOOOOOOO!
A few hours later, I tuned back, hoping it was a mistake, a bad dream, or a practical joke. Instead of Colin Cowherd, whose show I enjoy, I heard more Spanish.
Luckily for me, there's another ESPN Radio station about 90 minutes away. Sure, it's staticy as hell, but remember what I said about a junkie and his fix? Yeah.
Today, I turned into the Mike & Mike Show on Static AM, wanting to hear what they had to say about this past weekend's playoff games.
Instead, I was greeted with the silky voice of Don Imus.
NOOOOOOOOO!
Now what the hell am I supposed to do?
Listen to Jim Rome? Um, no thanks.
Pony up the bucks for XM? Too cheap for that.
Listen to some wacky morning show personality who gets callers to play stupid tricks on loved ones? Not a chance.
I guess I'll just have to start conversing with the people in the car with me.
Shudder.
Sad Day
